Thanks for leaving such a wonde...Awesome Comments! Thanks for leaving such a wonderful post. You seem really focused on the Republicans and how ineffective they were and the political junk and while the author of the post mixed in his personal views I think the purpose of this article is to underscore exactly how much this is going to cost everyone.

You mention that the President didn't do a good job of explaining things and then you highlight all the great benefits that will be accomplished, I think I would suggest that he didn't explain ANYTHING and our nation was told that health insurance costs would be cheaper!!!

In fact, the author has been writing about the notion that prices will actually go much higher not only for insurance, but also for medical procedures as simple supply and demand will be the basis for much higher costs.

Ultimately, I agree with you, that there are going to be good things from having everyone have insurance, but the concern I have had and still have is how do you pay for it and who is going to pay for it? We are currently hearing about the fiscal cliff and $1 Trillion deficits, in that context how do you pay for 35 million more uninsureds who almost certainly will receive subsidies since many will make less than $88,000 a year for a family of 4?

The key here is that the burden of the benefits are laid at the feet of others and Amerika's new found love of having zero personal responsibility and total dependency on government will ultimately lead to a poorer outcome for all of the USA. When small businesses realize that their annual 10% increase will also be met with a 50% increase in premiums and the average employee realizes that the cost to insure his wife and kids will be so much higher you'll really begin to see the anger and the angst resulting from the President's lack of clarity and deception.

Once again, I appreciate your comments and will pass them on to my friend.

Goatmug Goatmughttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06717166521459240516noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6758770623162438423.post-69059963004285624752012-11-14T05:46:06.162-08:002012-11-14T05:46:06.162-08:00While everyone of us is entitled to our opinions w...While everyone of us is entitled to our opinions we are not entitled to our facts - while this gentleman might be a very good human being there are the following issues he does not address:

1. Nancy Pelosi did blabber about passing the bill so we can read it. But that was in a specific context, the Republicans wanted to read the bill, orally, on the floor as a time wasting tactic, and after nearly 2 years of back and forth on this issue (yup it was not "rammed down our throats" as it was portrayed by Foxnews.)

2. It has been 2 years since the bill was passed. The Republicans have had control of the House for most of that time - they could have "read" the bill this time and passed amendments to specific problem areas which would have had credibility in the Senate. Yet they chose to glibly pass resolution after resolution "overturning Obamacare" which they knew fully well would not be considered on the Senate, let alone survive a Presidential veto. If there was meat to the argument that the bill will raise costs, why did they not make use of it?

3. Furthermore, the states got the opportunity to challenge it in the Supreme Court and the bill held up. Again, by designing it so the bulk of the changes will happen only by 2014, the Democrats and Obama clearly gave enough opportunity for the bill to be tested politically in Congressional and the 2012 Presidential election and legally in the Supreme Court before becoming fully implemented. That shows seriousness of purpose and anyone who is serious about amending the flaws in the bill has every opportunity to do so.

4.The legislation is based mostly on Romneycare and the AEI and Heritage Foundation ideas on healthcare reform. Obama was against the individual mandate, but they had consulted Romney's experts from MIT and Harvard who made it plain that without the mandate the plan would not work, so Obama agreed to the mandate. Romney/Ryan had every opportunity to make the case against the bill - if what your friend above says is true, they had a fantastic case and billions of dollars in ads to make it. They did not - how come? Were their experts, their ambitions not as high as your friend here? Or is he hyping one side of the issue while ignoring all the benefits in the bill such as reducing ER visits, Medicare payment for ER visits of the uninsured, etc...?

Obama failed in explaining the bill properly to the public, and so has the media - lamestream AND FOXNEWS who have gibberish 24/7 but no time apparently to explain what this bill really will do.

The only place I have seen a cogent, fact-based approach to discussing this super important bill is in Kiplinger's, starting with the following article which gives a breakup of the effects on various demographic groups. Since then they have been updating their work and it can be seen in the link at the bottom. I have no affiliation with Kiplinger's or Obama or Congress or whatever, just a concerned citizen who thinks reality trumps ideology (Sorry my Karma ran over your Dogma ;-) I always wince when I say that bcos I love dogs and cannot help wincing at the thought of even a fictional image like that :-)) Thanks for bringing up the issue, please run these by your friend if you like, and keep everyone honest. Good luck.

http://www.kiplinger.com/businessresource/forecast/archive/health-care-overhaul-what-happens-when.html

http://www.kiplinger.com/reports/health-care-reform/Indyanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01485949438765454900noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6758770623162438423.post-34403786287499869182012-11-09T06:00:22.869-08:002012-11-09T06:00:22.869-08:00Goat,
